Third Tuesday sessions at the Conduit Room
The Conduit Room runs sessions the third Tuesday of each month. Doors at seven-fifteen, first set by seven-forty-five. The room sits below grade behind a Weybosset entrance that looks like service access—one flight down, turn left at the boiler hall, follow the tile to the listening space.
Twenty-eight seats arranged in three rows facing a corner stage. No bar, no kitchen, no intermission. Performers work without amplification in a brick vault that was part of the old hydraulic system. The acoustics are exact and unforgiving.
Booking and format
Each session features two acts: one local, one traveling. Sets run forty minutes each with a fifteen-minute pause between. The room books six weeks ahead and fills the roster by the first of the month. Check availability for April and May slots now—June opens February 28th.
Recent lineups have included solo cello, prepared piano, field-recording playback, and one memorable evening of looped harmonica that the room is still discussing. The Conduit Room doesn't program by genre; it programs by fit. If your work needs a silent, attentive space, submit through the contact form on the venue page.
What to expect
Arrive early. Seating is first-come and assigned by the door manager based on sightlines and the evening's instrumentation. Latecomers wait in the boiler hall until the pause.
The room stays cold—mid-fifties in winter, low sixties in summer. Dress accordingly. No photography during sets, no recording devices, no phone use. The Conduit Room sells a limited run of archival recordings three weeks after each session, available by mail order only.
If you've been walking the Charter Passage route on Tuesday evenings and noticed a small crowd gathering near the Weybosset side door around seven, this is where they're headed.
March and April calendar
March 18: Bowed psaltery and tape collage
April 15: Accordion and voice, followed by solo contrabass
May listings post March 1st. The room holds twenty-eight and does not overbook. Reserve your spot for spring sessions while the roster is still open—once the month fills, the waitlist runs long and the Conduit Room does not add shows.
