The Bramwell Room sits above a frame shop on Westminster, accessed through a door that doesn't say much. The stairs are narrow. The room itself holds forty-eight people if chairs are involved, sixty-two if they're not.
February slots opened last Monday. As of this posting, weeknight blocks remain available through the 23rd—Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday runs that start at 7:00 or 8:30 depending on what came before. One Sunday matinee slot is still open on the 16th, 2:00 to 5:00, though that window tends to move if the prior booking needs teardown time.
What books here
Small-run theater. Listening parties where the format matters more than the genre. Manuscript readings that aren't fundraisers. One semi-regular chess night that doesn't advertise. The space doesn't provide equipment beyond folding chairs, two standing lamps, and an outlet strip that reaches most of the room.
The frame shop downstairs closes at six. After that the building is yours, which means load-in happens through the Westminster entrance and you're responsible for locking the street door when you leave.
Booking
Three-day minimum. They'll consider single evenings for repeat users, but new requests start at seventy-two hours. The calendar resets monthly—March slots won't post until the 28th, and they go faster than February because the weather's turning.
No deposit, but they keep a list. If you book and don't show, the room remembers.
Rate is flat regardless of attendance. You can charge at the door or not; the Bramwell doesn't take a cut and doesn't want to know. The frame shop owner comes up once per event to make sure the lamps are positioned away from the curtains. That's the only interruption.
The Sunday matinee
The 16th slot is unusual—most Sundays are held for a monthly salon that's been running since the room opened. This one's available because the salon moved their date. Matinee window means different light through the south-facing casements, which matters if your event involves projection or if you'd rather people see each other clearly.
Check availability directly at the frame shop counter or by calling the listed number, which rings downstairs and may take three tries. They don't hold slots over email.
If you've used other event spaces in the area—the Ashton Hall back room or anything along Benefit Cut—the Bramwell runs quieter and smaller, but it books faster for exactly that reason.
